Jagruti’s story

Julia is the heart and soul behind Mum’s Menu by Jagruti. Born into a vegetarian Hindu family, she has been vegetarian all of her life and has been inspired by the excellent cooks in her family as well. Having worked in hospitality for 25 years, from owning five Indian restaurants in Lisbon to opening a restaurant in London selling Indian street food, she cooked for her three children at home during lockdown, who encouraged her to branch out on her own and sell her delicious food! After all the necessary checks with the authorities, she was able to launch Mum’s Menu, catering to a variety of dietary requirements and offering a variety of cuisines.

She offers a variety of catering options in a number of cuisines and fusions as well as homemade chutneys, breads, cakes, and mouthwatering barfi (Indian style fudge). Travelling around the world when she was young, being born in Mozambique, living in India and Portugal as well as the UK, she has broad experience and puts it to good use. Mum’s Menu specialises in Indian but also offers Indochinese, Lebanese, Mexican, Italian and in the near future, Thai. Julia loves blending and reimagine flavour and spices, and her family of cooks have been vital critics to this development process.
